ASCII

ASCII art is created through basic algorithms. The concept behind it is a grey-scale image is generated into text through an algorithm the apply a symbol to a certain shade and then generates the outcome. The capabilities of this style of image are very broad with some people generating simple character images whilst some take the idea to the extreme and create full scale paintings.

Above are two very different examples of the art the i came across. One artist that I found who is interested in this style is a man called Christopher Johnston (http://www.chris.com/ascii/) Bellow is a very quick example of his work. Johnston experiments with this method in order to create objects and images of various different style and uploads them onto his database. This is a very interesting style of image that successfully uses typography as image in contrast to the usual use of image as typography seen in some modern day design.
